Sometimes our relationship with Christ seems to be like a car that is stuck in neutral. The car is there and it is still running, but it's not really going anywhere. The reason may be our prayer life or maybe the lack of it. I have met "Christians" who hardly ever pray. Then when they do, it is because they want something. They treat God almost like a Santa Claus for grownups. Christ is our example, and He spent much of His time in prayer. I have studied with Christians who only pray from a "prayer book" that someone wrote for them.

Praying should elevate our relationships with Christ. Praying should give us a closer walk and a living faith. Praying with a Purpose opens our minds to what prayer is. It is communicating with God, which is not only us talking to Him, it also involves God talking to us. It is listening to that still, small voice. It is getting guidance and feeling a real power in our lives. It is purposely setting aside time every day to spend with God. Finally, it is having the same desire that the disciples had when they witnessed Christ praying and receiving power. They asked Christ, "Teach us to pray."
